Compact Flash memory cards, also referred to as CF cards for short were developed by Sandisk, www.sandisk.co.uk back in 1994. CF cards were somewhat of a revolution enabling HIGH CAPACITY storage.
There are 2 types of CF card, these being TypeI and TypeII with TypeII being the thicker @ 5mm thick and being the 1st generation of CF cards. The TypeII are somewhat thinner measuring just 3.3mm thick. The TypeII models are used in all modern digital SLR’s.

Sandisk have recently added the NEW Ultra CF Compact Flash memory card to their range. However the truth is it offers the same spec as the old Ultra 2 (II) CF card just renamed.
